G999 A Rare and Exceptional Greek Silver Drachm of Knossos (Crete), a Magnificent Depiction of the Famed Labyrinth of the Palace of Minos
CRETE, Knossos. Circa 330-300. Drachm (Silver, 19mm, 5.49 g 6). Head of Hera to left, wearing sphendone ornamented with palmettes, elaborate earring and pearl necklace. Rev. ΚΝΩΣΙ Square labyrinth with entrance above; to left and right, Α Ρ. BMC 26-27. SNG Copenhagen 374. Svoronos 70 and pl. VI, 7. Very rare, especially in such fine condition. Well centered and attractively toned with great metal. Extremely fine.
