Rafael Barradas (Montevideo, 1890 - 1929) fue un pintor y dibujante uruguayo. Reconocido impulsor en España de la Sociedad de Artistas Ibéricos, fue muy estimado por el círculo de intelectuales de la generación del 27.

Painted in 1927, Anna Gabbioneta displays all the clarity and precision of the objective style of portraiture that Schad perfected during this period of his career, his elegant subject sharply observed and bathed in a soft, even light, as she sits in front of a quiet townscape. Schad conveys a sense of the young woman’s intensity and focus, her gaze almost hypnotic as she stares directly out from the canvas at the viewer. Placed against a backdrop of simple, domestic buildings crowded together, Gabbioneta appears to hold herself perfectly still, her poise and fashionable attire at odds with her surroundings.

Soriano, son of Rafael Rodríguez Soriano and Amalia Montoya Navarro, was born in Guadalajara and displayed his first painting at age 14. He moved to Mexico City in 1935, where after a difficult start he was accepted into the local art scene.

From 1945 until her death, she served as the librarian of the Elmer Belt Library of Vinciana, first when the library was based in the collector's medical offices, and later as honorary curator when the collection was given to UCLA in 1961.

Steinitz is remembered for collaborative work with the Kurt Schwitters, and, in later life, her scholarship on Leonardo da Vinci.»

Aram Alban was born on July 30, 1883 in Constantinople, Turkey. His parents were Armenian, but Alban was raised and educated in Constantinople and Cairo. He left school to work as the assistant to a photographer in Cairo. After this apprenticeship, Alban went first to Milan (he apparently admired Italian portraitist Gustavo Bonaventura) and then to Brussels, where he took portraits.  (...)  He died in Cairo on March 4, 1961.
